The history catalog runs across three broad blocks: ancient and medieval (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Mauryas and Guptas, the Delhi Sultanate and Mughals, the medieval European kingdoms), the early modern period of empire and revolution (the Renaissance, the Mughal-Maratha conflict, the European colonial expansion, the American and French revolutions), and the modern era from 1800 onward (the Indian freedom movement, the two World Wars, the Cold War, decolonisation, post-1947 Indian political history). Easy rounds test the dates and names a school textbook puts in bold. Medium rounds expect chronology — who came before whom, which battle preceded which treaty. Hard rounds get specific: the article of a treaty, the regnal year of a Mughal emperor, the lesser-known of two co-leaders in a freedom movement. UPSC and state PSC aspirants will recognise the question patterns; the modern Indian history block in particular maps closely to the standard prelims syllabus. For casual players, history rewards readers — anyone who has finished a good biography in the last year will outperform their expectations here.
